These terms govern your use of Bao Reader's website, app and related Chinese learning tools. Bao Reader is operated from Taiwan. "Bao Reader", "we", "us" and "our" refer to its operator. Contact us at [email protected].
By using Bao Reader, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
Your account
Some features require an account. Keep your sign-in details secure and provide accurate information when needed to operate your account. Contact us if you suspect unauthorized access. Do not access someone else's account or share credentials in a way that compromises account security.
Free service
Bao Reader is currently free and ad-free, with no paid features or subscriptions. If we introduce paid features in the future, we will explain their prices and conditions before any purchase. Using the current free service does not authorize future charges.
Learning content and AI
We develop story ideas and use AI to help generate stories. A native Chinese speaker manually reviews every story before publication. Definitions are prepared with AI assistance and reviewed before publication. Illustrations are AI-generated. Flashcard topics and vocabulary selections are developed independently for Bao Reader. The current service does not include audio.
Review does not guarantee that materials are free of language, translation, factual or visual errors. Bao Reader supports learning but does not guarantee a particular level of proficiency, examination result or learning outcome.
Permission to use learning materials
To the extent we hold the necessary rights, we give you a non-exclusive permission to use Bao Reader's learning materials for personal, non-commercial study and classroom teaching. Teachers may display stories and share copies with their students for lessons, including paid classes. Keep any Bao Reader attribution or rights notices on copies you share.
This permission does not allow you to sell the materials themselves, republish them as a separate website, app or collection, or copy the content in bulk for redistribution. Ask us before using materials beyond this permission. Rights and exceptions provided by applicable law remain available to you.
We do not claim exclusive rights over ordinary Chinese words, facts or material that is not protected by intellectual property law. Any separately identified third-party material remains subject to its stated license and the rights of its owner.
Acceptable use
Use Bao Reader lawfully. Do not interfere with the service, bypass access controls, introduce malicious code, attempt unauthorized access, or use the service to infringe another person's rights. Do not use automated requests in a way that disrupts the service or undermines its security.
Feedback
You may send feedback without an account or email address. Only submit material you have the right to share. You retain any rights you have in your feedback and allow us to store, review and use it to respond and improve Bao Reader. This permission does not remove your privacy rights.
The feedback chat uses an external AI processing service to generate replies automatically. Replies are not reviewed by a person before delivery and may be inaccurate. They do not constitute a promise to implement a feature, resolve an issue, or change these terms. Do not include sensitive personal information. For direct contact, email [email protected].
Availability and changes
We may update features, correct or remove content, or interrupt the service for maintenance, security or other operational reasons. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. If we discontinue the service or make a change that materially limits access, we will provide reasonable notice where practicable.
Ending use and account deletion
You may stop using Bao Reader at any time and delete your account through account preferences. When you delete your account, we delete your account and all associated personal information and learning data. Deletion is irreversible. Technical records that no longer identify you and cannot reasonably be linked back to you may remain for security and diagnostics. Feedback submitted separately is handled as explained in the privacy policy.
We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address a breach of these terms, protect users or the service, or comply with law. Where practicable and lawful, we will explain the reason and give you an opportunity to contact us to resolve the issue. Urgent security or legal situations may require action without advance notice.
Responsibility and disputes
We take reasonable care in providing Bao Reader, but cannot promise that every feature or learning material will meet your needs or be free from errors. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or consumer rights that applicable law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
If you have a complaint, contact [email protected] so we can try to resolve it. These terms do not require arbitration, waive your right to bring a claim, or remove any protection or court access available under mandatory applicable law.
Changes to these terms
We will update the date above when these terms change. We will notify users of material changes through the service or another appropriate channel before they take effect, except where urgent legal or security reasons require an immediate change. Where required by law, we will ask for your agreement. If you do not accept the revised terms, you can stop using the service and delete your account.
